‘Life’ describes Malonza’

Who is Ivy?
I am a 25-year old aspiring pilot as well as a travelpreneur who loves inspiring and motivating people.

For how long have you known Malonza and when was it that you met?
I have known him for about 7 years now. We met in university; my first semester at the United States International Universtiy (USIU). He was funny, sweet, optimistic and of course, handsome. I knew back then, that he was the person I wanted to spend forever with.

Tell us about him? Do we have enough space for that?
I could say a lot about him but one word; life! Malonza has so much life in him, and it’s very contagious. He can change the entire atmosphere of a room when he walks into it, not to mention his laughter. He’s also a very positive person. He’s got a strong personality, is quite adventurous.
Describe your relationship?
God is at the forefront. We love, we care, laugh, motivate, pray and cry together as well. We’ve also learnt to be friends first, so being in love with your best friend is the best. We have so much in common and I could write a book about our love story. For us, the 19th of every month is very special because it is the day we started dating.

What is the most charming thing about him?
His heart. He has a heart of gold. He is that person who’d rather let you have the last piece of his favourite chicken.

What don’t people know about Malonza?
He is quite cheeky. I think this attribute makes him cope really well with children. Also, he has a very special bond with his mum.

How do you deal with the attention he gets from ladies?
I’ve learnt with time, to distinguish between a genuine compliment and flirting. Knowing what is what helps me know how to respond to the situation. However, Malonza always knows what to say, as he too has learnt how to tell the difference. Funny thing, is whenever he notices someone is flirting, he tends to mention his girlfriend just to make it clear that he isn’t interested.

How did it become that you went into business together?
This began way back when in university. We weren’t really serious about the business. I just needed to get money to enjoy ‘uni life’. I then realized that this business could help me pay a percentage of aviation school fees. That became the motivator. Malonza helped me come up with the capital, and believed in me achieving my dreams. However, I believe God’s plan was different, as we faced a couple of challenges which changed a lot of dynamics in that business.

When did you start?
Two years ago, where we travel the world and inspire lives globally. This business has brought more joy, hope and lessons into our lives in whole. We had various reasons as to why this business made a lot of sense to us, so when we saw the concept for the first time, it felt like God was answering our prayers. You also travel together.

What are some of the best countries you have been to?
Spain was exciting. We fell in love with Barcelona and Ibiza. Barcelona is definitely a must do again, as we feel we didn’t really explore it much. We enjoyed the relaxation and beautiful sceneries of Ibiza, the party life as well.
Funny how there existed both extremes in that tiny island. This may also sound cliché, but the mood and atmosphere in Paris was so exciting, romantic and thrilling, that we fell in love with, and we’ll definitely go back especially in the summer.
Touring Paris, listening to Malonza attempt to speak french, getting lost severally, is an experience never to be forgotten. The adventure was exhilarating. Thailand holds a special place in our hearts.

Drifting off, it was alleged that you were both involved in a car accident? Tell us a bit about that?
Yes. We were living a dangerous life a couple of years back. With all the parties, didn’t have a pause button. That was one scary experience. I don’t seem to remember the accident itself, but seeing Malonza all covered in blood and injured, hurt so deep.
I felt so helpless but knew I had to help him. I literally saw myself close to losing my best friend on that day. For both of us, that was a reality check. It was such a wake-up call. It’s sad that the incident had to happen for us to reform, but the greatest lesson learnt was that no one has a contract with God.

What is the future for you?
We do set a lot of goals, short term goals as well as long term goals. Our goals boil down to living in accordance with god’s purpose for our lives. From the bible verse, where we learnt that,’ a wise man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children,’ we strive to do so for our children.
So our goals are in line with that, paying attention to having financial freedom, and most of all time freedom. As mentioned earlier, we aim at being masters in the art of living.

Learning from one of our mentors, a master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labour and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him, he is always doing both.
